Camden County has completed its first draft of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Annual Action Plan for fiscal year 2022, which is funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and includes funds Federal Investment Partnership HOME (HOME), Emergency Solutions Grant Fund (ESG).
The estimated funding amounts for fiscal year 2022 are as follows:
- CDBG = $2,405,169
- HOUSE = $1,259,648
- ESG = $212,549
Once the official 2022 HUD allocations are announced, if the county needs to make adjustments to its budget in order to match the official allocation, it will do so proportionately across the entire budget.
The county’s annual action plan aims to improve the housing and living conditions of its residents, especially extremely low, low and middle income households; the homeless and people with special needs; modernize and improve the County’s public and community facilities; improve and expand public services for county residents; and promote economic development opportunities for all residents.
Prior to the submission of the annual action plan, the county is holding two virtual public hearings on May 5, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Camden County wishes to review the draft plan to obtain feedback and views from citizens, public agencies and other interested parties for the planning process for the allocation of federal Community Block Grant funds in the count.
Information received from interested persons at the hearing will help the county prepare the final 2022 annual plan.
All interested individuals and organizations are encouraged to attend this hearing and provide their views and comments on the county’s housing and community development needs.
Instead of participating in person, the public can attend and join this meeting via teleconference or Zoom webinar.
Login information will be displayed on the County website before the meeting.
The county intends to submit its annual action plan by July 1, 2022 to the HUD office in Newark.
The first draft of the action plan is available for public review on the county’s website: www.camdencounty.com.
