The Town of Cutler Bay announced improvements to the Community Development Department, which includes the Building Division, Code Compliance Division, and Planning and Zoning Division.
Ongoing improvements include:
● Greater efficiency in the costs of the services provided;
● New clearer forms;
● New software, electronic plan processing and online payments, and
● Additional Code Compliance Officer (already in place).
Community Development Manager Jared Munster explained.
“In the Building division, we are going to be transition suppliers,” Munster said. “Our building division is mainly managed by contract employees of the city. This helps keep costs down while we continue to serve you. So what we’re looking to change is to move from a percentage fee model to an hourly billing model. This will help us control costs to provide better services.
Munster also said the city is hiring an additional code compliance officer to work evenings and weekends who can be reached at those times. They are also improving the forms to make them easier to fill out and easier for city staff to process. New software is in the process of being acquired which will make it possible to download the construction plans online and to analyze the plans online. And payments can also be made online.
The city released a video explaining the improvements. It is visible on: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISjV3vXYuqI&feature=youtu.be.
