SAN LUOS OBISPO, Calif. — The City of San Luis Obispo is making it easier to obtain permits and schedule inspections for construction projects with new software upgrades, but will have to temporarily close its public community development window to prepare for the upgrades.
According to Michael Codron, director of community development, the city is updating its permit system to provide new online services and increase access to permit and inspection services.
The public community development counter will be closed May 23-30 to prepare for upgrades, but inspections will continue and certificates of occupancy will still be issued, Codron said.
There may be temporary delays in processing plans received by courier after May 20 at noon.
“The improvements we make will be worth the temporary inconveniences,” Codron said.
Permit System Upgrades Will Enable Automated Same-Day Approvals for Select Permits, Public Access to Real-Time Online Exam Statuses, Online Inspection Requests and Schedules, and Inspection Logs digitized available upon request.
Additionally, some of the upgrades will improve efficiency behind the scenes, such as improving the ability of city staff to review digital copies of approved plans in the field, Codron said.
