Region A community development day was a success

Joburg Region A community development day saw over 100 community members gather at the Ivory Regional Park on May 28 under the theme ‘Get to know Community Developments’.

The day of fun was organized by MMC for Ronald Harris Community Development, and community members from areas such as Ebony Park, Ivory Park, Rabie Ridge and President Park, to name a few, participated. all kinds of fun activities.

The purpose of the day was to reach out to the Ward 78 community to showcase the services offered by the Community Development Portfolio which includes City Parks, Joburg City Theaters and Joburg Zoo.

The portfolio offers various programs aimed at meeting social needs as well as promoting social cohesion. Services offered include, but are not limited to, access to facilities, parks, cemeteries, theaters, maintenance of open spaces and facilities, and promotion of creative industries.

Harris expressed her deep appreciation for the support the event received from the community.

“If I could, I would name everyone who made this day a success, but I’m afraid I’ll miss others,” Harris said. “However, I was impressed with every presentation from our stakeholders, departments and entities.”

The day started with an aerobics session, which set the tone for the rest of the day. The program was led by Regional Manager for Region A, Abigail Ndlovu, who did a spectacular job.

In addition to an orchestra entertaining the crowd, there was also the theater truck which provided attendees with entertainment with drum majorettes, pantsula dancers and other fun activities.
“It was a collective collaboration and I’m sure the Area A community now understands what the City of Johannesburg Community Development Department is all about,” Harris concluded.
