The Barossa Council is exploring new and innovative opportunities to foster community development, in partnership with community members.
The board approved a community development strategy that repositions how we identify and deliver community service priorities.
Mayor Bim Lange said the new community development model is based on working with people rather than for them.
“Community development builds the capacity of community members to come together and create stronger and more resilient local communities.
The council has approved a range of dedicated roles, including a community wellbeing officer and community development officers, who will work closely with local community service providers and stakeholders to ensure resources are directed to where they are most needed.
“Our next steps are to develop an implementation plan and an action plan, with a view to integrating this new model later this year,” said Mayor Lange.
