President of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Kaduna State, Hon. Abubakar Buba expressed the willingness of the presidents of the local government of Kaduna to support the ongoing reforms on the promotion of accountability, transparency and community engagement.
He made this known when he received a delegation from the Local Government Accountability Mechanism (LGAM), Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL) on Monday during a courtesy visit to his office in the framework of activities leading to dialogue on public policies on strengthening local communities. The visit to the president of ALGON, who is also the president of the local government of Lere, according to the delegation, aimed to initiate the partnership between ALGON and LGAM with a view to deepening the on-going reforms that aim to strengthen fiscal sustainability and local government service delivery.
A statement issued at the end of the meeting and signed by the Secretariat / Program Committee, Local Government Accountability Mechanism (LGAM), Mr. Yusuf Goje, said: reforms underway in the areas of transparency promotion, responsibility and community involvement.
