IE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

Rates of pay and others: $38,000 per year; full time with 25% commission above $10,000 ad sales procured per month.

Surveillance: Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief.

Key functions: Advertising sales (70%), Distribution & Subscriptions (30%)

Work’s extent:

  1. Advertising sales—Research, locate and contact current and potential clients in various industries to meet IE’s annual advertising revenue within budget. Respond to incoming advertising requests in a timely manner. Communicate with clients to understand their advertising needs, present the benefits of IE, provide available options for ad art, formats or features and provide samples, negotiate, close the sale and, if necessary, collect revenue . Handle all account correspondence and documents in a timely and appropriate manner. Communicate effectively with the accounting team. Build and maintain customer relationships for retention and revenue growth purposes.
  2. Distribution—Rebuild post-pandemic distribution routes; maintain distribution boxes and comply with city laws; plan distribution expansion or reduction as needed; maintain professional conduct among all distributors and contracted volunteers; research, locate and contact current and potential distribution points to increase readership and visibility; communicate with the editor regarding distribution needs, options and trends; maintain a map of distribution points in greater Seattle.
  3. Subscriptions—Manage IE broadcast subscriptions, send out subscriptions for each print edition, maintain subscription list, notify subscribers when their subscriptions expire, develop plan to increase subscriptions, find most cost effective method of delivery subscriptions.

Performance standards:

  1. Achieve target objectives and effectively manage time to perform key functions.
  2. Maintain constructive business relationships with staff, customers, leaders and community members and other prospects.
  3. Submission of work products and financial/administrative documentation.
  4. Proactive and regular communications on sales, development and operations.
  5. Notifies the editor 30 days in advance to request an extended leave.

Desired skills:

Experience in sales and customer service; knowledge of social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook); some graphic design skills; keen interest in community and ethnic journalism; appreciation of AANHPI culture, news, and community; familiarity with Chinatown-International District.
