The new report also reaffirms Cummins‘ to create vibrant work environments strengthened by diversity, equity and inclusion, and commemorates a record year of community giving as well as a new strategic community engagement initiative to address the global crisis of water.

“2021 has been dominated by challenges demanding action, Cummins and its stakeholders,’ Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Tom Line Barger said in his cover letter for the report. “It will take all of us working together to address these broad systemic issues and Cummins is committed to playing a leadership role in these efforts.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

If it is still relatively early, Cummins made progress in 2021 on both reducing GHG emissions from factories and facilities and working with customers to reduce GHGs from products in use. Cummins is also on track to reduce VOCs from facilities and operations and reduce water consumption across the business.

INNOVATION AND SUPPLY CHAIN

2021 will go down as one of the most innovative years to Cummins as the company recorded new highs for global patents and invested in research, development and engineering. The company also created Destination Zero, Cummins‘ to achieve net zero emissions in its products by 2050.

Cummins explores the use of low-carbon fuels and other measures to reduce carbon emissions from its base products. The company is also bringing to market the carbon-free and low-carbon technologies that will power the future, including battery electric platforms and hydrogen fuel cells.

Meanwhile, people around the world, from all walks of life, have learned the importance of supply chains in 2021. Cummins stay in close contact with major suppliers of parts in short supply, in some cases chartering special transport for parts to avoid backlogs at some major ports. Efforts like this and others have helped the company track a surge in sales in 2021.

The strategy aims to help employees reach their full potential and harness the power of diversity, equity and inclusion to address customers’ biggest challenges.
