Caritas Family Solutions Community Services for Senior Citizens Employment Program (SCSEP) is the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the Boeing Employee Community Fund – St. Louis. SCSEP is a program that gives low-income adults aged 55 and over the opportunity to prepare for and re-enter the labor market. Seniors who qualify receive job preparation, job search assistance, and a paid assignment to the public service that provides training.
“For an organization like Boeing to understand the work we do and choose to support us is something we are very grateful for,” said SCSEP Director Gary Woods. “Boeing employees viewed our program as beneficial to members of their own community. Thank you Boeing for giving us this opportunity to do the work we do and change the trajectory of the seniors we serve. »
Individuals eligible for SCSEP are unemployed and have a family income not exceeding 125% of the federal poverty level, earning less than $16,800 per year. Woods said these extra grants can be a lifesaver when it comes to helping these seniors with extra help like interview clothes.
“This grant helps the people we serve when they have these unexpected expenses and need extra support,” said John Becker, Caritas Business Development Manager. “If we didn’t have these kinds of subsidies, we would struggle to get people into the workforce and give them the support they need to keep a job.”
The Boeing Employee Community Fund – St. Louis is a grant program that allows Boeing employees to donate to charities and nonprofit organizations of their choice.
