Applications sought for the 2022 Community Development Award

The Sault Ste. The Marie Community Development Award Committee is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2022 Community Development Award.

Presented annually by City Council, the award recognizes outstanding community development projects and is given to a local business or organization; with the aim of bringing innovative ideas to light and inspiring others to uphold the standards set by successful projects.

Past winners include Queenstown’s IDA, The Machine Shop, Savoy’s Jewelers, The Trading Post and Frontier Village, Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, Waterfront Walkway and Lyons Timber Mart.

“Community development is an all-encompassing term. We are looking for projects that contribute to the community in some way, such as fostering growth, sustainability and innovation, improving quality of life, preserving our natural resources or promoting equity and inclusiveness said Rebecca Evans, Chair of the Community Development Award Committee. . “Projects are evaluated in terms of creativity and impact rather than size and cost.”

The Community Development Award Committee will be accepting nominations for the award until June 10, 2022. Nominations can be submitted to:
