KINGSTON – Applications for the 2022 Kingston Community Development Block Grant will be available starting Tuesday, October 12.
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) CDBG program aims to support the goals of providing a suitable living environment, decent housing, and expanding economic opportunities for people with low to moderate incomes.
Groups and organizations operating in the city of Kingston can only apply for CDBG funding for eligible programs located in the city.
This year, the Advisory Board and Community Development Committee will only fund new or significantly expanded programs and services. Examples of eligible activities and a list of threshold criteria are included in the application package. Applications can be found here beginning October 12 and are due by Friday December 10 at 12 p.m.
The city’s community development office will hold a virtual public hearing on October 19 at 7 p.m. to solicit comments on how Kingston should allocate the funding. A 30-day public comment period will be available starting October 20. Comments must be received by November 19, 3:00 p.m. , 12401.
Three public information meetings will be held for interested applicants to discuss eligible programs, process and application requirements. New and previous applicants and sub-recipients are encouraged to attend at least one information meeting.

The City of Kingston has completed its Consolidated annual report on performance and evaluation (CAPER), which reports on performance from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021 under several HUD-authorized programs.
In the 2020 federal fiscal year, the City received $ 748,668 in CDBG program funds. CAPER reports on the administration of these funds by the City in accordance with a consolidated plan previously approved by the HUD. A virtual public hearing will take place on October 19, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. All commentators must register to speak at the public hearing.
